Aftermath of serious bus accident in Costa Rica

JACÓ, PUNTARENAS, COSTA RICA – AUGUST 3, 2025 On busy Highway 34, a serious bus accident occurred. According to all available information, the bus lost its brakes and crashed into several vehicles ahead. The force of the impact catapulted four passengers out of the bus, some of whom fell into a deep ravine.

The driver of one of the vehicles hit by the bus suffered severe injuries and died. The total number of injured exceeds 30.

The rescue operation was very efficient and even involved police drones. If the investigation confirms that brake failure was caused by poor maintenance of the bus, the operator could face legal consequences.
