While some held his legs apart, others beat him in the genitals with a wooden stick, causing unbearable pain. Some sources claim the lynching had ethical or political overtones, while others report that the mob ultimately killed him.
Street justice remains fairly common in some rural areas of India. People often take the law into their own hands when they suspect theft, fraud, or other offenses. This frequently leads to lynching, resulting in death or permanent injuries. It should be noted that participants in lynchings often face far greater legal consequences than the victim. No one has the right to physically punish another person on their own and violate basic human rights.
