BRAZIL Mentally ill man stopped a passing police car. After a brief conversation, he attacked them. He continued to physically assault the officers even after they got out of the vehicle, so one of them was forced to use his service weapon. The attacker fell dead to the ground.
Public reaction was mixed. Some argue that the officers were justified, since if he had managed to grab a weapon, he could have endangered the lives of innocent civilians. Others say the police should have first fired into the air or aimed at a different part of the body.
