SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – FEBRUARY 25, 2026 Armed robbery of a mobile phone store occurred on Los Restauradores Street, in the Villa Mella neighborhood. Two robbers burst inside, forcing the clerk and one customer to raise their hands above their heads. Meanwhile, they looted the displayed goods and drove away customers who tried to enter.
The clerk kept a cool head the entire time and waited impatiently for his opportunity. It presented itself when the robbers turned their backs and started to leave. He reached for a weapon he had prepared under the counter for such occasions and began shooting.
Both robbers were hit. While one suffered serious injuries and had to be hospitalized, the other died on the spot. After recovery, the survivor faces trial.
