ITABAIANA, PARÁ, BRAZIL – MARCH 1, 2026 In a rural house near the city of Itabaiana, five bodies with signs of mutilation were found. The killers stacked four victims in a pile in one of the rooms, while the fifth lay in front of the house. According to the police, it was a settling of accounts between rival criminal factions that have been fighting hard over this area in recent weeks.
Police are now searching the surrounding forests for two more possible victims and are trying to identify the perpetrators. The incident is another tragic consequence of the expansion of organized crime in northeastern Brazil, where territorial disputes are settled with extreme cruelty.
