CHAUSA, BIHAR, INDIA – FEBRUARY 24, 2026 Brutal attack occurred during wedding celebration. At the moment when the bride stepped onto the stage for the traditional garland exchange ritual, a young man from the neighborhood shot her from close range. The attacker immediately fled the scene.
The bride suffered serious injuries and, after initial treatment at Sadar Hospital, was transported in critical condition to a specialized clinic in Varanasi. Police identified the attacker as the victim’s former partner, who apparently could not accept her marriage. A manhunt has been launched for the suspect.
