BRAZIL Man was lynched to death by an enraged mob after being accused of rape. They stomped on his head, threw bricks at him, and beat him with wooden sticks.
In Brazil, so-called street justice is a common problem in poorer neighborhoods known as favelas. Local residents often take the law into their own hands due to distrust of the police. This is supported by gangs that control the favelas. It is not in their interest to involve the authorities, so in these areas they enforce their own laws and administer their own punishments.
