KIRYAT YAM, ISRAEL – FEBRUARY 4, 2026 Near Haifa, a powerful car explosion occurred, resulting in fatalities and serious injuries. A man around 40 years old was severely injured at the scene and later died despite receiving first aid from rescuers. Two other people – a 23-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy – suffered severe injuries to multiple parts of their bodies and were hospitalized in critical condition.
During the explosion, one of the victims lost both legs, remaining conscious and in pain. It is not yet clear from available reports which of the injured this was.
Medical personnel stated that the younger injured person – the 23-year-old man – had to undergo neurosurgery and remains in very serious condition after the operation. The 13-year-old boy is also receiving treatment to stabilize his condition, which is likewise described as serious.
Police are investigating the incident as a violent crime and are examining the possibility that the explosion was caused by an explosive device placed on the vehicle, which may have detonated earlier than intended.
