IPU, CEARÁ, BRAZIL – NOVEMBER 28, 2025 Tragic accident happened at the intersection of Antônio Martins Street and Vereador Francisco das Chagas Avenue. The motorcycle on which the two cousins, 15-year-old Francisco Alisson da Costa Melo and 20-year-old Maria Giselle Sousa Gonçalves, were riding crashed into the side of a truck. Both fell directly under its wheels and were crushed by the weight of the truck. They died at the scene.

As it later turned out, the victims were headed to the municipal sports hall to watch a futsal match between the Ipu Futsal team and Fortaleza Esporte Clube. Maria’s brother, Rodrigo Jeep, was playing for Ipu. He learned of their deaths during the match, causing the game to be stopped, and Rodrigo left the court in tears.
The incident again highlights how important it is to follow traffic regulations and basic safety recommendations, especially when riding a motorcycle. A moment of inattention can cause tragic consequences. Stay safe!
