BAHIA, BRAZIL – MARCH 27, 2020 In an area known as Balança, on the BA-210 highway between the cities of Paulo Afonso and Glória, a fatal collision occurred between a cyclist and a car. The driver fled the scene.
The cyclist suffered severe injuries and died before emergency services could arrive. The impact tore off one of his arms and a leg.
When the driver was not found at the scene, police launched a search based on the vehicle registration records. He was located nearby and taken to the police station, where biological samples were collected to test for alcohol or drugs in his system. His blood alcohol level was measured at 0.22% BAC.
