Deep cut on ribs of anorexic woman

Mentally ill woman is dealing with her problems in one of the worst possible ways – through self-harm. With a sharp object, likely a razor blade, she inflicted a deep cut on the right side of her rib cage. The depth reaches the fascia, which is a connective tissue membrane that surrounds organs, muscles, and other body structures.

Based on the scars on her arms, it can be assumed that this is not the first time she has resorted to something similar. Her extremely malnourished body is also worth mentioning, as it indicates an eating disorder, which can also be considered a form of self-harm.

Although it may be incomprehensible to many people, those who self-harm claim that physical pain helps to temporarily drown out emotional pain. However, it is important to realize that the relief is temporary, while the consequences are permanent. The only lasting help for all psychological problems is always seeing a professional, such as a psychologist or psychiatrist.

If you're thinking about self-harm, please stop and recognize that this won't solve the pain you're feeling. While it might seem like a way to cope, it leaves lasting scars, not just on your body but on your heart as well. There are healthier, safer ways to manage your emotions.

Every wound you inflict is a cry for help. You are not alone. Reaching out to someone you trust can be the first step toward finding a way out of this dark place. You deserve kindness, support, and real healing.

If you need immediate help, please contact a helpline.
