PATERSON, NEW JERSEY, USA – MARCH 7, 2025 60-year-old man waiting for a bus lost his life in an accident on Main Street near the intersection with Madison Avenue. The driver of a Jeep Cherokee attempted to avoid a taxi that was stopping at the intersection for a red light at high speed, but he skidded, entered the opposite lane, and then onto the sidewalk. There, he hit the elderly man at the bus stop and caused damage to two other vehicles.
Unfortunately, the elderly man was dead at the scene and could no longer be helped. The SUV driver was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center with minor injuries. He will face charges of negligent homicide.
