NIGERIA Video shows one of the many victims of the long-lasting ethnic and religious conflicts in Nigeria. The victim, belonging to the Muslim Hausa ethnic group from northern Nigeria, was captured by his rivals and violently executed by beheading.
Nigeria’s divisions date back to 1914, when the British forced together diverse peoples with no regard for cultural, ethnic, or linguistic differences. Ever since, tensions have flared, today fueled by power struggles, control of natural resources, and the religious split between the Christian south and the Muslim north.
