NIGERIA After a man was accused of rape, a crowd of enraged people gathered around him and carried out an act of street justice on him. They stripped him naked, bound him, and tortured him to death.

It later turned out that the rape accusation was false and that someone else had committed the crime. At that moment, however, this innocent man was already dead.
Although lynching may sometimes seem like a quick and effective form of justice, the opposite is true. Not only is it a gross violation of human rights, but similar mistakes often occur where an innocent person is killed. Never resort to lynching and always call the police to the scene.
