URUACU, GOIÁS, BRAZIL – AUGUST 22, 2025 At the 198th kilometer of highway BR-153 near the city of Uruaçu, there was a fatal collision between a female motorcyclist and a nine-axle truck. The victim, identified as 45-year-old M. D. Durães, attempted to enter the highway from a side road at the same time the truck was passing. For unknown reasons, she failed to yield, struck the rear axle on the side of the truck, and fell beneath its wheels.
The weight of the truck caused injuries incompatible with life. She was practically crushed and scattered across the road. She died at the scene.
The truck driver stopped at the accident site and waited for the police to arrive. A breathalyzer test for alcohol came back negative.
The Federal Highway Police are currently investigating the crash, reviewing all camera footage and witness statements. Although the investigation is not yet complete, the most likely scenario is that Durães misjudged her ability to control the motorcycle. She attempted to merge into the free space on the right side of the truck but did not lean the motorcycle sharply enough.
