SOUTH AFRICA Man was caught climbing into a tractor on the back of a truck. He was trying to steal a part from it. The truck driver and other people involved decided to take justice into their own hands and physically punished the thief. They painfully whipped him with a long electrical cable.
Even though this kind of street justice may seem quick and effective, it is important to emphasize that it is a gross violation of human rights. Anyone who carries out such punishment usually puts themselves at greater legal risk than the thief himself. In similar situations, the police should always be called to the scene.
