BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA – SEPTEMBER, 2025 Argentina was shaken by a brutal crime that, in its cruelty, surpassed even the darkest scenarios of drug wars. It all began on September 19, when three young girls disappeared: 20-year-old cousins Morena Verdi and Brenda del Castillo, and only 15-year-old Lara Gutierrez. According to investigators, they fell victim to a calculated trap when gang members lured them with the promise of earning $300 for attending a party in the southern part of Buenos Aires. Instead of the promised reward, however, unimaginable torture awaited them in a house in the suburb of Florencio Varela.

Criminologists discovered that the girls were tortured and subsequently murdered in a live stream for a closed group of 45 social media users. This public execution was meant to serve as a terrifying warning to other members of the underworld regarding the alleged theft of a package of cocaine. In the leaked video recording, a voice was heard coldly announcing that this is the fate of anyone who dares to rob the gang boss. The victims’ bodies were found after five days of intensive searching, buried in the garden of the house, where police were led by cell phone signals and surveillance footage capturing a van with a fake license plate.
The main mastermind of the massacre, 20-year-old Peruvian Tony Janzen Valverde Victoriano, known by the nickname ‘Little J,’ attempted to escape justice. After the crime, he fled Argentina and hid in neighboring countries. Police finally managed to track him down in Peru, approximately 43 miles (70 kilometers) from Lima, where he was hiding in the cargo hold of a van transporting fish. Along with him, his closest associate, Matías Ozorio, was also detained. In February 2026, the Peruvian government definitively approved Valverde’s extradition to Argentina, where he will face charges of multiple premeditated murder with aggravating circumstances of extreme cruelty and gender-based violence.
