HYDERABAD, INDIA – APRIL 1, 2025 32-year-old Basharath and 22-year-old Shabana fell in love in January 2023 in Rajasthan. In May 2024, they got married and moved to Hyderabad. Since then, however, they experienced serious relationship problems, which escalated into domestic violence, which escalated further into an attempted murder.
On March 29, 2025, Shabana was hospitalized due to weakness and vomiting. The hospital staff immediately became suspicious that her husband was abusing her. Basharath did not agree with her hospitalization and came to the hospital on the evening of April 1 with the intention of taking her home. However, she refused.
A verbal argument and mutual insults followed, after which Basharath became almost insane. He violently pulled his wife outside the hospital, where he grabbed bricks and brutally attacked her with them. He hit her with a brick 12–14 times until she lost consciousness. Some of the blows were directed at her head. Then he fled the scene.
Footage from a security camera in front of the hospital, along with the fact that Shabana turned out to be pregnant, outraged the entire public. The suspect was arrested the next day and charged with attempted murder.
Shabana survived the attack only thanks to timely medical help. Some opinions say that if the incident had not happened in front of a hospital, she would already be dead.
