RISA, BIMA, WEST NUSA TENGGARA, INDONESIA – JUNE 7, 2025 Group of young campers stumbled upon a hanged man in the remote Gunung Ndudu Jara forest near the village of Risa. They first detected a strong, penetrating odor of death, which aroused their curiosity, leading them to investigate. Upon confirming the grim discovery, they promptly contacted the authorities.
The body was found in an extremely isolated area, roughly a 90-minute trek from the nearest village. The deceased had been hanging for an extended period, evidenced by the partial mummification and decomposition of the remains.
Retrieving the body from such difficult terrain took police over five hours. The remains were transported to a hospital for an autopsy, which aims to establish the man’s identity and clarify the circumstances of his death.
