MAUR, PUNJAB, INDIA – DECEMBER 3, 2016 25-year-old Kulwinder Kaur was performing with her dance group at the wedding of a local businessman. A group of friends from the groom’s side, heavily intoxicated, were firing celebratory shots into the air. One of them, Lucky Goyal, tried to join the dancers on stage but was denied entry. Enraged by the rejection, he cold-bloodedly shot Kulwinder in the head with a shotgun.

Although she received immediate medical attention and reportedly still showed signs of life on the way to the hospital, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The tragedy was compounded by the revelation that she was pregnant.
In court, Lucky Goyal claimed the shooting was accidental and happened during careless handling of the weapon. Some witnesses supported this version, and there is even video footage. Nevertheless, the court ruled that the shooting was intentional. Additionally, three of his friends were charged with unlawful and reckless handling of firearms while intoxicated.
