CAMPO GRANDE, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – JULY 13, 2025 In the western zone of Rio de Janeiro, specifically in the neighborhood of Campo Grande, a man was struck by a train. Several witnesses reported that the man was standing on the tracks, waiting for the train to arrive. A video shows the aftermath of the collision.
Amazingly, the man survived but lost an arm and a leg. Firefighters rescued him from the scene, and he was transported to Rocha Faria Municipal Hospital in critical condition. No updates on his current health status have been released.
Although the investigation into the incident is still ongoing, early signs suggest it was a suicide attempt. The area where it happened is notoriously known for the presence of drug addicts.
