ETHIOPIA In Ethiopia, there has long been tension among various ethnic groups, especially between the Amhara, Oromo, and Tigray peoples. The Amhara, one of the largest groups, are often targeted by radical armed groups and even by federal forces. In recent years, several massacres of civilians, including women and children, have taken place. This has sparked strong ethnic hatred and a cycle of retaliation.
Since 2023, the violence has escalated into an armed conflict with the government. Militant Amhara groups attack government targets, and the government, in an effort to overpower and disarm them, carries out attacks in return. Human rights violations are happening on both sides. Some media even speak of a targeted genocide being carried out against the Amhara in Ethiopia.
The photo shows the real and uncensored consequence of this ethnic conflict. An entire Amhara village was executed, including women and small children. Although no one has officially claimed responsibility for the massacre, it is more than clear that it was committed by government forces.
