KENYA When a mob frenzy broke out and the lynching of a mentally ill man accused of murder began, the father of the murder victim was also present. Although he was a police officer by profession, he completely ignored all laws and actively participated in the lynch mob. He stabbed him several times with a knife, thereby killing him.
In most African states, including Kenya, street justice is unfortunately still deeply rooted in society. It primarily stems from low education and a lack of trust in the police and the state’s judicial system. Although this form of justice may sometimes appear fast and effective, in reality, it is a criminal offense and a gross violation of human rights. Never participate in such acts of street justice.
