SÃO LUÍS DO CURU, CEARÁ, BRAZIL – JUNE 26, 2025 In the metropolitan area of Fortaleza, near the town of São Luís do Curu, a mutilated male body was found on a dirt road. All his limbs had been severed, and a lock was fastened over his mouth, usually carrying the message “silence.” The victim was identified as 36-year-old Gilson Ferreira de Moura from the neighboring town of Uruburetama. What the police find remarkable is that such a brutal murder victim was such an ordinary person. He reportedly had no criminal record, did not stand out in any way, and worked as a child protection counsellor.
