ITASIN-IMOBI, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA – JULY 28, 2025 Wild elephant escaped from a government nature reserve and attacked a farmer, Musa Kalamu, who was tending his field. Unfortunately, Musa did not survive the attack.
According to witnesses, he did not provoke the animal in any way. The elephant suddenly charged and began trampling Musa brutally. The attack was so violent that his intestines were even ejected from his abdomen. After the attack, he showed some signs of life for a short while but ultimately died before he could be transported to the hospital.
The incident caused outrage among local residents, who complained that this is not the first time an elephant has escaped from the reserve and entered their fields. In previous cases, only crops were destroyed. In response, the police commissioner of Ogun state promised that security measures would be implemented to prevent such incidents from happening again.
