NIGERIA Nigerian soldier used his service weapon, an assault rifle, against a civilian. He hit him in the head, literally shooting his brain out. The exact motive for this particular case is not yet known.
In Nigeria, especially in high-risk areas with a strong presence of gangs and terrorists, similar scandals occasionally occur where civilians are killed by members of the army. These areas include Rivers State, Lagos State, and Edo State. Most often this happens during raids in densely populated areas, where stray bullets can easily hit civilians. However, there are also documented cases of intentional attacks stemming from personal revenge or suspicion.
