BENUE STATE, NIGERIA Small cell of radical Islamists carried out a religiously motivated attack on a village. The incident resulted in one villager being killed. They hacked him to death with machetes.
Although Benue State is considered extremely dangerous from the perspective of the developed world, from a Nigerian point of view it is a relatively safe, predominantly Christian area. Religiously motivated attacks are more common in the northern states.
