SAN JOSÉ DE ALLURIQUÍN, ECUADOR – JULY 18, 2025 In a small village located along the main route connecting the cities of Santo Domingo and Quito, a fatal collision occurred between a pedestrian and a truck. According to CCTV footage, the woman was attempting to cross the road carelessly. She stepped in front of the truck, assuming the driver would see her and stop. Unfortunately, the driver did not see her, as she was standing too close and was in his blind spot. The truck ran over her, fatally crushing her. She died at the scene.
This tragedy highlights the importance of being aware of truck and bus blind spots. Large vehicles have areas the driver cannot see – especially close to the front and sides. Pedestrians should never assume they are visible and must stay clear of these zones to stay safe.
