LA ARENA, PIURA, PERU – AUGUST 24, 2025 In a house on San Martín Street, the dead body of an 18-year-old student was found, showing signs of strangulation. She had been reported missing since August 19 (five days), and her desperate family, with the help of neighbors, had been searching intensively for her ever since.
The main suspect in the murder became her 43-year-old uncle, Jorge Junior Silva Álvarez, who owned the house. He did not deny anything and confessed to her murder.
The girl’s father asked him directly, “Did you kill her?” to which Junior Silva Álvarez calmly replied, “Yes.” The father then said, “What kind of man did we have in our family?”

Junior Silva Álvarez was then attacked by the girl’s father and dragged outside the house. There, an angry crowd of neighbors was already waiting, and they began to lynch him along with the girl’s family. He received numerous blows from sticks and stones to the head. One hit was so strong that it knocked him to the ground. His life was saved by police officers present, who had to fire shots into the air to disperse the crowd.
Although no media directly mentioned the motive for the murder, it was revealed that Junior Silva Álvarez was a sexual offender. Back in 2014, he had been charged with molesting a minor in the capital of Peru. From this, it is apparent that the motive was likely sexual.
