MALI, 2025 Several rebels carried out an armed attack on a military vehicle belonging to the Malian armed forces. The attack left at least four soldiers dead. The ambush was so sudden that they didn’t even have time to fight back – not a single shot was fired at the rebels.
The situation in Mali is currently extremely tense and dangerous. Armed groups linked to the infamous al-Qaeda, particularly JNIM, as well as factions connected to ISIS, are active throughout the country. They frequently carry out similar armed attacks on military vehicles and convoys.
Their operations target not only the military but also civilians and convoys transporting fuel or food supplies. In the past, their attacks have repeatedly disrupted education and significantly deepened the humanitarian crisis devastating this African nation.
