BUCARAMANGA, SANTANDER, COLOMBIA – FEBRUARY 12, 2026 40-year-old owner of a small grocery store, Serge Andrés Suárez Ortiz, was murdered during a robbery in the Torres de Monterredondo neighborhood. He fully cooperated with the robbers and willingly handed over his jewelry (a chain and a ring). However, they also demanded his watch, which he had trouble removing from his wrist due to the stressful situation. One of the robbers responded by shooting him in the shoulder.
Serge fell seriously injured to the ground in front of the other store customers and later died in the hospital. Meanwhile, the robbers fled the scene. The police are actively searching for them, but no arrests have been made so far. The city council has offered a reward of 10 million Colombian pesos for information leading to their capture.
