TURKEY, 2021 Anna Butim, a Russian woman, lived with her Turkish husband in Turkey. Over time, it became clear that he is violent and Anna filed for divorce along with a court-issued restraining order. This, however, enraged her husband to the point that he brutally attacked her with a knife.

Anna suffered multiple deep cuts to her face. Doctors told her that she would likely lose sensation in most of her face permanently. She shared the photos herself in good faith, hoping they would help raise awareness about domestic violence and violence against women.
