RECIFE, PERNAMBUCO, BRAZIL – JANUARY 23, 2026 Incident occurred at the Mercadão do Cabo market in Cabo de Santo Agostinho. A woman was accused of stealing a mobile phone, after which seven security agency employees surrounded her and showed no mercy. They collectively kicked and beat her, making inappropriate remarks such as, “Anyone who does this will get it, not just you,” and “Stop crying, shame on you.” The woman had to seek immediate medical attention following the attack.
The city mayor stated that such behavior will not be tolerated. He also mentioned that he had contacted the commander of the military police to identify all the attackers, adding that none of them were city employees.
