Shot for interfering in couple’s argument

LOS OLIVOS, LIMA, PERU – FEBRUARY 8, 2026 Police officer S. B. C. L. (30) was detained after shooting his neighbor Jorge Luis (37), who tried to intervene in an argument with his partner. Jorge Luis is in critical condition in the hospital, with doctors trying to save his life. The incident occurred when the victim stepped out of his house to calm the arguing couple; according to witnesses, the officer fired without warning. Authorities stated that the detained officer will not be protected by the police institution and is now facing an investigation for attempted murder.
