SURABAYA, EAST JAVA, INDONESIA – SEPTEMBER, 2025 Whole of Indonesia was shaken by the brutal murder of 25-year-old Tiara Angeline Saraswati from Lamongan. She became the victim of her boyfriend, 24-year-old Alvi Maulan, who killed her in their rented room in Surabaya. In an attempt to dispose of the body, he then cut her into dozens, possibly hundreds, of pieces, which he scattered across the Pacet–Cangar area in Mojokerto.

Tiara was a management student at Trunojoyo Madura University and was known for her diligence and ambition. Alvi, from Labuhan Batu in North Sumatra, worked in Surabaya as an online motorcycle taxi driver. Despite being together for several years, their relationship was reportedly tense and full of conflicts.
The murder allegedly followed a heated argument on September 2, 2025. In a fit of emotion, Tiara grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the neck. As she bled to death, he began planning how to dispose of her body. Using a butcher’s knife, garden scissors, and a hammer, he dismembered her corpse into dozens of pieces. Some sources report more than 100 fragments. He then gradually discarded the pieces along the road in Pacet.
On September 6, a random discovery of human remains along this road triggered a major police investigation. By September 7, Alvi was arrested at the crime scene – in that room. During the search, police found blood traces, body parts he had not yet disposed of, and the tools used. The forensic team collected 310 body fragments, including bones, flesh, and teeth.
Alvi Maulana has been charged with premeditated murder under Article 340 of the Indonesian Penal Code, which could carry the death penalty. Police continue to investigate the motive and are examining whether others were involved in the crime.
