SHANTOU, GUANGDONG, CHINA – JUNE 17, 2025 Man experienced a microsleep behind the wheel and, while driving at 50 mph (80 kph), struck a woman on an electric scooter who suddenly swerved into his lane. Unfortunately, the woman did not survive.
Footage from the car’s dashcams has sparked mixed reactions among the Chinese public. Some blame the driver for the accident, while others hold the woman responsible. What’s certain is that if the driver hadn’t gotten behind the wheel while drowsy, he might have been able to react in time.
