BIHAR, INDIA Indian snake charmer was bitten by a king cobra during careless handling. Within a few minutes, he collapsed and fell to the ground in front of several dozen onlookers. They were afraid to approach him because of the snake, which was not restrained. Unfortunately, he died before reaching the hospital.
The king cobra is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. Its neurotoxic venom is not only highly potent but can be produced in large quantities due to its size. With a single bite, it can inject up to 0.24 oz (7 ml) of venom, enough to kill up to 10 adult men. Death often occurs in less than half an hour, though an allergic reaction can make it even faster. Despite its deadly reputation, the king cobra is generally very calm and only attacks when it feels threatened.
From time to time, similar street performances with snakes result in accidents, with snakes attacking even spectators. During tourist visits to Southeast Asian countries, especially India and Thailand, increased caution is advised around such performances. Safety is often not professionally ensured. It is recommended to keep a safe distance and be prepared to react.
