Teenager was entertaining himself by setting off powerful fireworks but failed to follow basic safety rules. One of the fireworks exploded right in front of his face, causing serious injuries. Fortunately, doctors managed to stabilize his condition and save his life.
Some of the most basic safety guidelines for handling fireworks include using them according to the instructions and only in open outdoor areas. There should always be a fire extinguisher or some other means of putting out a fire nearby (such as sand or a bucket of water). Never approach a malfunctioning firework for at least 30 minutes, as it may still explode. And importantly, children — including teenagers — should never handle fireworks without adult supervision.
Equally important is buying safe fireworks from reputable sellers, ideally those that come with some kind of certification.
