INDIA Three young men riding on a single moped crashed at high speed into a parked truck. The consequences were fatal – all three died instantly. Security camera footage showed that the crash was preceded by an overtaking maneuver combined with excessive speed and the rider’s lack of experience. He failed to lean the moped enough to complete the evasive turn, even though he had plenty of time to do so.
Another tragic detail is that none of them were wearing helmets – a fact that most likely decided their fate.
The incident not only highlights the importance of wearing helmets and following traffic rules but also reminds riders to respect the manufacturer’s passenger limit, which for most mopeds is two. Exceeding that limit makes the vehicle far harder to control.
