HARIDWAR, UTTARAKHAND, INDIA – SEPTEMBER 6, 2025 40-year-old Vikas, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, traveled to Uttarakhand to enjoy a pilgrimage with his friends. In an attempt to record the perfect TikTok video, he jumped into the Ganga River, despite not being a strong swimmer. After swimming only a few feet, he began to drown. His friend filming the video did not realize the severity of the situation and continued recording. Tragically, Vikas drowned, and the river carried his body away. It was recovered 24 hours later, several miles downstream.
The incident highlights the dangers of today’s social media-driven culture, where people take extreme risks for viral content. Always remember that life is your most valuable possession, and no video or number of likes is worth risking it.
