SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – JANUARY 17, 2026 Tremembe neighborhood has been shaken in recent days by a case of a brutal murder. Forty-year-old Ivia Stefania da Silva de Castro was stabbed to death by her ex-girlfriend, a trans woman, 25-year-old Ewellyn. The attack took place in front of the victim’s home on Rua Viana, in front of their shared child.
Security camera captured the moment Ewellyn entered the house and went straight to the kitchen, where she grabbed the largest kitchen knife she could find. Just moments later, she attacked the unsuspecting Ivia. The intensity of the attack was extreme, with stab wounds directed at the neck area. She was pronounced dead immediately after paramedics arrived.
Immediately after the attack, Ewellyn dragged the body aside and fled the scene. She later called a police station herself, confessed to the crime, and provided her location. Shortly afterward, she was arrested and is currently facing murder charges.
According to initial information from police, the main motive was jealousy. Ewellyn believed that her ex-girlfriend was seeing someone else, something she was unable to accept.
