Two brothers murdered at reception of their motel

GUAYAQUIL, ECUADOR – JUNE 6, 2025 During an armed robbery at the Rancho Grande Motel, two brothers who owned the business were shot and killed. A masked attacker entered the reception area with a gun, aimed at one of the brothers, and the other tried to defend him. The brief struggle, captured by security cameras, ended when the assailant shot both men in the head and fled. The brothers died at the scene. The incident sparked strong public outrage and again highlighted the deteriorating security situation in Guayaquil. Police are investigating the attack, and it has not yet been confirmed whether the shooter has been caught.
