SAN MARTÍN, CESAR, COLOMBIA – OCTOBER 7, 2025 In the early hours, two dead men showing signs of torture were found on the road connecting the towns of Aguas Blancas and San José de las Américas. Both had their hands tied and gunshot wounds indicative of an execution-style killing. However, the lack of sufficient blood at the scene suggests they were likely dumped from a vehicle.
The police immediately linked the discovery to a reported kidnapping of two men from a shopping center. Several witnesses had called the police the day before, reporting that they had witnessed the abduction. Armed assailants forced the men into a van, which allowed authorities to carry out identification. Although their identities were not released, it is known that both were under 27 years old.
The San Martín area in Cesar has repeatedly been the scene of violence linked to criminal groups. According to available reports, three factions – ELN, Estado Mayor, and the Clan del Golfo – compete for control in the region.
