GUATEMALA Two women were kidnapped by a local gang because of a series of thefts and robberies they allegedly committed. Both were chained together and painfully punished.
Gangs in controlled territories mostly issue their own laws and enforce their compliance. Punishments tend to be cruel and physical. Executions are no exception. The main purpose is not that the gangs are philanthropic, but they try to maintain order for their own benefit. The lower the crime rate in their territory, the less attention there is from the police.
