NGHĨA KHÁNH, NGHỆ AN, VIETNAM – FEBRUARY 19, 2026 During the Lunar New Year (Tết) celebrations in Nghĩa Khánh, Vietnam was shaken by a brutal attack captured by a home security camera. A man in Nghệ An province first verbally assaulted his mother and older sister, then threw kitchen utensils at them, and subsequently began to brutally beat them with a fishing rod. The aggressor continued the attack despite the pleas of both women, eventually threatening them with a knife and destroying the recording device.
The incident sparked massive outrage in the country, as respect for parents is the highest moral law in Vietnam, especially during holidays of peace and family. Police in the Nghĩa Đàn district have already identified the attacker and launched an investigation. The extent of the victims’ injuries is now being assessed by doctors, which will be crucial for determining the sentence for the aggressive son.
