IRAQ – SEPTEMBER 9, 2005 Photos from a field hospital at an American military base show war injuries of both American and Iraqi soldiers, whom American units were training. As can be seen, every war brings immense suffering. Military doctors must be top professionals in their field to handle the wide range of injuries caused to soldiers by explosions or bullets. They are often trained to perform precise work under pressure – for example, during an enemy attack.
On March 20, 2003, the U.S. Army launched an invasion of Iraq with the support of the United Kingdom and other countries. The goal was to overthrow Saddam Hussein, who was developing weapons of mass destruction. In 2005, Iraq was officially declared liberated, but in reality, it was in a state of chaos and civil war. Insurgents from Hussein’s regime continued to carry out armed attacks against U.S. soldiers and coalition forces. In addition, there was a strong presence of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda in the country. The year 2005 went down as one of the bloodiest during this war.
