FORTALEZA, CEARÁ, BRAZIL – MAY 21, 2022 Tragedy occurred at the Siqueira bus terminal, claiming the life of a young woman. 20-year-old Maria Joyciane Ferreira da Silva was pinned against a metal fence by a bus, which caused her immediate death.
After several months of investigation, the police charged the forty-year-old bus driver with involuntary manslaughter. Investigators concluded that the driver acted carelessly and failed to exercise the necessary caution while maneuvering the vehicle.
Maria Joyciane was from the city of Canindé and was the youngest daughter of her mother and the only daughter of her father. She grew up with relatives in Maranguape, from where she moved to Fortaleza about a month before the accident to begin her first job as a customer service operator. Her dream was to become a nurse. In her free time, she would return to Maranguape to visit her family.
