BANGU, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – APRIL 16, 2024 A woman in the western part of Rio de Janeiro demonstrated a serious amount of audacity. She arrived at a bank with a corpse in a wheelchair and attempted to obtain a loan of 17,000 reais (about 3,000 dollars) using it. Even though she tried to move the corpse to make it look more believable, bank employees called the police to the scene.
The woman was identified as Érika de Souza Vieira Nunes. The body in the wheelchair was allegedly her 68-year-old uncle, Paulo Roberto Braga, who had died a few hours earlier of natural causes. She then got the idea to exploit him in this way posthumously.
Érika was arrested and charged with attempted fraud and desecration of a corpse, which was subsequently sent for forensic autopsy to rule out any responsibility of Érika in his death.
