Worker buried under soil and rocks during excavation work in Belém

BELÉM, PARÁ, BRAZIL – JUNE 13, 2025 48-year-old worker, José Maria, died during a tragic accident while excavation work was being carried out in front of the city hall on Travessa Mariz e Barros street. Under unclear circumstances, he was buried alive by soil and rocks. Despite the immediate efforts of his coworkers and later rescuers, they were unable to free him alive.
