ITALY Tragic incident occurred in Italy in which a 20-year-old woman was attacked by a pack of Maremmano-Abruzzese Sheepdogs while walking in the forest. According to a witness, she initially interacted with the dogs without any problems, and at first they did not appear aggressive. However, the situation suddenly changed when the dominant dog of the group arrived. The woman tried to run away, but the pack surrounded her and then attacked.
The attack was extremely brutal and involved around 20 dogs of various sizes. The victim suffered dozens of injuries all over her body, mainly to her legs, torso, and head. An autopsy confirmed that the cause of death was massive blood loss because the dogs damaged major arteries in her lower limbs, including the femoral artery. Investigators also found defensive wounds on her hands, indicating that the woman tried to fight back.
The case was very complicated for experts because in a pack attack it is difficult to determine which specific dog caused the fatal injuries. Police eventually captured 18 dogs, and specialists analyzed the wounds, hair, and possible saliva traces. Based on the spacing between bite marks, they were able to determine that at least three dogs of different sizes (small, medium, and large) were definitely involved in the attack.
